When Fame Isn’t Enough
she begged for cigarettes. it sounds crazy right? but in all honesty, i wish it wasn’t true.
you see, like any story, there’s always three sides; yours, theirs and the truth with the full story lying somewhere in the middle. This is my side.
it’s a relationship that shouldn’t have even happened in the first place. things kept going from bad to worse, and through it all, i did my best to believe it was just a one time thing. maybe she’d be satisfied after this last pack. she promised she’d quit this time, but in the end, she needed them to take the edge off of what she was dealing with.
our relationship was public, but behind the scenes, we were barely speaking. sometimes, i’d get her what she wanted just to get her off my back. if i stopped, well, it wouldn’t just be the end of her; it would also be the end of us and everything that i helped build. we both bit off more than we could chew, but ultimately i suffered the consequences.
she’s famous, just like everyone else i’ve worked with. our story was watched by millions, but when not enough people were watching, i was blamed for these shortcomings because i was behind the music. i made everything that you never truly paid attention to. no matter where i go, there will always be someone that knows her name and hadn’t even considered who was actually making her music.
Fame is a curse. i wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. but yet, we chase. and when we get what we want, it’s never how we thought it would be. in my case, i lost everything because i put my faith in us. and when her fame wasn’t enough… well, you get the picture.
